Residential wellness for ages 11–16

More Than Diet and Exercise — Building Healthy Habits for Life

A residential wellness and weight management program for teens that brings together fitness, nutrition education, mindset development and healthy habit formation to support lasting lifestyle change.

At ThruNorth, we take a more integrated approach to teen wellness and healthy weight management.

The residential camp provides an immersive environment where participants can practise these skills away from their usual routines, with guidance, structure and the support of a small group.

And because meaningful change takes time, ThruNorth doesn’t end when camp does. Continued post-camp and family support helps participants take what they have learned back into everyday life.

Not a punishment. Not a quick fix.

A positive reset.

Why ThruNorth?

Because sustainable weight management is about more than knowing what to eat or how to exercise.

At ThruNorth, we believe:

Young people shouldn’t just be told what they need to change. They should be given the knowledge, experiences, support and practical tools to understand themselves and begin creating healthier choices of their own.

We want teens to understand not only what healthier choices are, but also develop the skills, mindset and habits that can help them make those choices part of everyday life.

This isn’t simply about losing weight. It’s about helping young people develop the knowledge, skills and habits to support their health for life.

The ThruNorth Residential Experience

Step away from everyday routines. Experience something different. Build skills to take home.

ThruNorth is an immersive residential wellness experience designed to give teens the time, space and support to focus on themselves away from the distractions and routines of everyday life.

But this isn’t a classroom — and it isn’t a weight-loss boot camp.

Days are designed to balance movement, learning, personal development, connection and fun.

01

Fitness & Movement

Supervised fitness sessions, outdoor activities, team challenges and enjoyable ways of being active — with an emphasis on participation, personal progress and discovering activities they can enjoy.

02

Nutrition in Real Life

Interactive nutrition education helps participants understand food, balanced eating and everyday choices. Rather than following restrictive diets, teens learn practical skills they can use when making their own decisions at home.

03

Mindset & Self-Awareness

Through age-appropriate mindset and somatic development activities, participants explore confidence, emotions, self-talk, goal setting, motivation and responding to setbacks.

04

Healthy Habit Building

Teens begin identifying the routines and behaviours that influence their wellbeing and practise creating small, realistic changes they can continue beyond camp.

05

Reflection & Journaling

Our ThruNorth participant workbook provides space for daily reflection, goal setting, habit tracking and recognising personal progress throughout the experience.

06

Connection & Fun

There is also time to connect with other participants, enjoy group activities, laugh, relax and simply experience being part of a supportive community.

Small Groups. Individual Attention.

Supported, not lost in a crowd.

ThruNorth is intentionally designed around a small-group environment rather than a large camp model. This allows our team to get to know participants, provide appropriate support and create an environment where young people can participate without feeling lost in a crowd.

Every teen arrives with different experiences, abilities and goals.

The aim isn’t for everyone to leave ThruNorth looking the same. It’s for each participant to leave knowing themselves better, feeling more capable, and having practical tools they can continue using at home.

The Journey Doesn’t End at Camp

Because lasting change happens in everyday life.

The residential experience is the beginning of the ThruNorth journey — not the end.

Returning home means returning to school, family routines, social situations and the everyday challenges that can make new habits difficult to maintain. That’s why six weeks of online follow-up support is included as part of the ThruNorth program.

During this period, participants are encouraged to continue working on the goals and habits they began developing at camp, reflect on their progress, work through challenges and stay connected to what they learned.

Phase 1 — Reset

A structured live-in program focused on movement, confidence, healthy routines, mindset and positive peer support.

Phase 2 — Reinforce

Six weeks of online follow-up support with check-ins, habit guidance, encouragement and practical strategies for home life.

Supporting Parents Too

We recognise that teenagers don’t make lifestyle changes in isolation.

Parents and families can have an important role in creating an environment that supports healthier routines — without turning food, exercise or weight into a constant source of pressure or conflict.

Through parent education, practical resources and ongoing support, ThruNorth helps parents understand how they can encourage and reinforce the positive changes their teen is working towards.

Camp creates the opportunity for change. Follow-up helps bring that change into everyday life.

What Can Participants Gain?

Progress looks different for every young person.

ThruNorth is not about achieving a particular body shape or expecting every participant to reach the same result. We encourage teens to recognise progress across different areas of their health, wellbeing and daily life.

Success at ThruNorth isn’t about becoming someone different. It’s about helping young people discover what they are capable of and giving them the tools to keep moving forward.

  • Build greater confidence in being physically active and discover ways of moving that they enjoy.
  • Recognise physical progress through appropriate measures of fitness, movement, health behaviours and individual goals, alongside changes in confidence, knowledge and habits.
  • Develop a better understanding of nutrition and how everyday food choices can support health and energy.
  • Recognise habits and behaviour patterns and begin developing healthier alternatives.
  • Build greater self-awareness around thoughts, emotions, motivation and choices.
  • Develop practical mindset tools for goal setting, self-talk, challenges and setbacks.
  • Experience achievable progress through small, realistic changes.
  • Become more involved in their own health decisions, building skills they can continue using as they grow.

Who Is ThruNorth For?

Finding the right fit matters.

ThruNorth is designed for young people aged 11–16 who would benefit from a supportive, structured environment to develop healthier habits, improve their fitness and wellbeing, and build greater confidence in making healthy lifestyle choices.

Every young person is different, which is why participation begins with an application and suitability process to help determine whether the program is the right fit for the young person and their family.

We meet them where they are — and help them move forward.

Safety & Support

A supportive environment where every young person matters.

We understand that choosing a residential program for your teenager is a big decision. At ThruNorth, creating a safe, respectful and supportive environment is central to how the program is designed and delivered.

Small-group support

Participants are known as individuals rather than becoming one of many in a large group.

Age-appropriate activities

Activities are adaptable to different levels of fitness and ability, with an emphasis on progress rather than comparison.

Child safety & risk management

Our program is supported by appropriate child-safety practices, supervision, risk management, emergency procedures, consent processes and pre-program health information.

Suitability first

Our application process helps us understand relevant health, wellbeing and support considerations before a place is confirmed.

Our aim is to create an environment where teens feel safe to participate, try new things, ask for support and progress at their own pace.
